Live our Faith by Reaching Out to OthersMary Mac'sMary Mac's Place provides support to homeless, transient and socially disadvantaged men, women and children. This includes a freshly cooked/served lunch daily, a warm social environment and referral, as appropriate, to community support services. Social Justice GroupCatholic Social Justice teaching and current social justice issues are integral components of this Group. It assists its members keep in touch with the Church teachings and with the peace and human rights issues of today. At times, and when possible, the Group participates in letter writing campaigns and action and/or walks for peace, reconciliation, refugees, etc. St Vincent de PaulVisitation of the poor in their homes, operating St. Vinnies stores (by receiving donated goods and either giving them to needy people or selling them to provide funds), and engaging in special works, for example St Jude's Hostel for homeless men, are all activities undertaken by this Group. The Woy Woy Conference meets weekly at the Society Centre in Brickwharf Road; the Umina Conference meets fortnightly, in the Parish Hall. EcumenismSharing their faith with people from other faith communities in a welcoming capacity at social activities, culminating in a Christmas celebration. |
