Cooking for Parishioners in Need

Volunteers supply meals in emergency situations.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Minsters of Holy Communion enable the sick and incapacitated in hospitals and nursing homes and throughout the Parish to receive Holy Communion regularly.

Grandparent Carers/Parenting

Due to some tragedy or other event some Grandparents have taken the role of carers to their grandchildren. These people meet monthly to support, fellowship and seek ways to help each other. Members are needed to supervise the children while the Grandcarers have this period of respite.

Seasons for Growth

Supports children and adults who have experienced loss through separation, divorce and death.

Bereavement Ministry

Volunteers visit the bereaved to give care and comfort when they have lost a loved one.

Homebound Group/Home Visits

Visits and telephone calls to the housebound on a regular basis.

Welcoming

Welcomers greet parishioners and visitors at the door of the Church and hand them a bulletin. New parishioners are given a census form and are encouraged to participate in the life of the parish.

Natural Family Planning

Fertility awareness education for singles and couples on a one-to-one basis by accredited Billings ovulation method teachers. Also offers advice and counseling during changes in female life-stages, from young teens to midlife.

Articles of Devotion

Rosary and Scapular Makers

With the main intention of supplying much needed rosaries and scapulars for overseas Missions, this group meets, creates and prays once a week.

Piety Stalls

A "piety stall" is a facility provided at both churches wherein parishioners and visitors may buy devotional articles at reasonable prices.

Social Groups

Craft Group

A group of parishioners meet on Thursday mornings to exchange craft skills and support each other in a social setting. The fruits of their labour supports, through sales of craft items and Donations, Outreach programmes like the Cancer Council and Father Chris Riley's Youth Off the Streets.

Housie

Participants meet each Saturday evening at 7:25 pm at St. Mary's Hall, Ettalong. This is an opportunity to meet community members and provides fellowship.

Parish Social Committee

The Parish intends to form a Social Committee which will be responsible for planning and organising Parish social events. Events to be held include the Volunteers Celebration Party, Birthday of St John the Baptist, and St Patrick's Day celebration. The Committee would decide what other events might be organised and recruit members. Social events allow parishioners to meet and helps build solidarity and friendship.
